Amazon unveiled its Flying Ring Always Home camera which works indoors when the residents are outside. The camera will work for 5 minutes on an hour charge. It’s been priced at $250 and will be launched in 2021.

Imagine being 20 minutes away from home and forgetting if you closed the window or left the stove on. Rings flying camera can help!

The Flying Ring camera uses a predetermined flight path and transmits live video using Ring App. It can integrate with Ring Alarm (Ring’s Home Security System), and be used as an alarm trigger. It’s equipped with obstacle avoidance sensors and able to dock then send an alert if an obstacle is detected.

Ring enters an uncharted market as they create a solution to provide more thorough security coverage of your home at an affordable price.

Rings solution to the problem of purchasing hoards of cameras to get full coverage of your home: the Flying Camera, is a theoretically more cost effective and privacy conscious solution. The Ring Always Home Cam only records when flying and triggered. Plus, it’s physically blocked when inside the dock. But, like all smart home devices, there is always the risk of being hacked - and more…

Ring’s partnership with hundreds of police departments around the US has been continuously scrutinized by privacy experts. Some worry about how easy it is for Police to access saved videos, risking privacy invasion if data is misused or falls into the wrong hands.

Conclusion

Rings latest innovation does have its downsides and isn’t an essential for the average homeowner. However, it seems like a great solution for those looking to find a more extensive and affordable way to put security cameras in their home. Now, it’s a matter of how soon Ring will be ready to release this product to consumers in 2021.

I’ll leave you with this: Imagine a time traveler came to your ten years ago. You may agree with them that you had foreseen the evolution of electric cars, or, bigger and better smartphones and computers. But, a Flying Camera that roams about your home by a company named after the sound of a bell... That, most certainly wasn’t foreseen by the average consumer.
