OnePlus 9T - Dead or Alive?

OnePlus 9T question mark.png

OnePlus is known for being a company that creates phones to “kill” big brand name flagships. And, the OnePlus 9T would be no different! But, with the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro already being great phones, some tech enthusiasts are questioning the need for a phone in the middle.

And, given recent major changes to the company, some speculate a 9T may not be announced this year! Closer integration with sister company Oppo, the departure of co-founder Carl Pei, and a global chip shortage are all contributors to these rumors.

What is a OnePlus “T” Device?

Put simply, OnePlus “T” devices are the phones between the “Standard” and “Pro” Models. With “T” models, OnePlus looks to provide features from the Pro models of the phone but take away some of the unnecessary features such as wireless charging.

Since T models are typically released by October, we feel comfortable saying it will be announced by then or not at all.

What Can We Expect With The 9T?

Display:  Just like the base and pro models, the OP 9T will have a variable refresh rate alongside 120hz. Same resolution display.

Processor: Just like the base and Pro models, we will likely see Snapdragon 888. And, if we are lucky, the 888+! OnePlus never fails to pack a punch with their phones' processing power.

RAM: For RAM, we expect to see 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Snappy load times for gaming are on the horizon!

Storage: Most likely, we will see 256GB of high speed storage. No word on expandable storage, but we hope it’s included!

Cameras: We aren’t sure exactly what type of camera the 9T will have. But, if your looking for camera quality, OnePlus 9 Pro is certainly the way to look.

Battery & Charging: Battery capacity is unknown but we can expect a 65W Warp Charger in the box. OnePlus does not disappoint with their continued use of their “Warp Charge” Technology. This 65 Watt Charging Speed is achievable by having dual batteries charging in parallel! We haven't seen wireless charging in base models or “T” models. But now, the base model 9 includes it and we can hope that the 9T will do the same.

Operating System: OnePlus’s current operating system, Oxygen OS 11, is what we expect to see on the 9T. Praised by many tech enthusiasts, it’s a simple, bloatware-free user experience.

We are excited to see what 9T may bring! Now, we have to wait and see how the major changes mentioned in this article's introduction will affect 9T’s launch.
