  • To be released in early 2021

The early 2000’s was a time when most offices, households, and schools had a “revolutionary” device from Blackberry - ranging from the BlackBerry 6230 to the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230. But, in recent years the BlackBerry name hasn’t been seen on any popular smartphones. BlackBerry has now revealed they are making a 5G-enabled Android smartphone. If successful, the company could put their fruit-inspired name back in the mouths of tech fans.

BlackBerry’s Key 2 Smartphone

After partnering with TCL, in 2016, to help them make smartphones, BlackBerry released the Key series in 2018 - a phone that included modern smartphone features, without the smartphone keyboard. Instead, the Key included a Qwerty keyboard.

More recently, BlackBerry has announced they are parting ways with TLC and partnering with Onward Mobility to produce a new 5G smartphone, with a redesigned keypad!

Similarly, Onward Mobility believes that they can help BlackBerry produce high-end 5G smartphones.

Conclusion:

This promising new partnership could lead BlackBerry back to their status as a premium smartphone brand. With 5G and a physical keyboard, BlackBerry is going to try its best to provide the smartphone and business world, a mix of the productivity from the past and accessibility from the future.
