On September 15, Apple held it’s hardware event ”Time Flies”, showing off the latest Apple devices and services as mentioned below.

APPLE WATCH SERIES 6

Apple watch series 6 offers a similar design to previous-generation Apple Watches but adds a few new colors. Series 6 also comes with a much improved always-on display (2.5 times brighter than the series 5) and various new watch faces including GMT, memoji face, countdown, and many others. Apple Watch 6 series is capable of measuring your blood oxygen level right from the wrist at any time and anywhere in just 15 seconds. It also features a new processor called the S6 chip which is 20% faster than the Series 5’s chip.

Apple has introduced a new Family Set, which will help set-up kid's Apple Watch using the parents iPhone.The new Apple Watch comes with 10 sports mode. The watch comes in Blue, Gold, Graphite, and a New Red color.

The Apple Watch Series 6 starts at $399, and is available now for pre-order, with full availability on September 18.

APPLE WATCH SE

Apple Watch SE comes with all the features to stay connected and healthy at a more affordable price. It has the same overall design as the Apple Watch Series 6 and uses the last generation S5 chipset while supporting features like Family Setup and Fall Detection. Watch Series SE runs on WatchOS software similar to the new Watch Series 6.

Apple watch SE starts at $279 - meaning it’s more affordable than ever to get a latest-generation Apple Watch. It’s available to purchase now

Apple fitness +

Apple Fitness+ is a new service for Apple Watch and it integrates with the Apple Watch workout app to offer guided workouts, while still showing information like heart rate, time. It will try to inspire users to stay more active, and participate in workout sessions. Fitness+ includes many workout modes like yoga, cycling, cooldowns, and so on. You will also be able to save Apple Music tracks on Fitness+.

Price and availability

Apple Fitness+ costs $9.99 a month and $79.99 per year. If you buy a new Apple Watch, you’ll get 3 months of Fitness+ for free. This is also a benefit of the Premier subscription on the Apple One bundle. The service will be available from later this year.

Apple One

Apple One keeps all your Apple services under one single plan. Apple One includes iCloud, Apple Music, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, and Apple fitness+. The service is available in three subscription plans: Individual, Family, and Premier. 

The individual plan includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud. The family plan adds 200GB of iCloud storage and the ability to share with up to six family members. The premier plan adds Apple News+ and Apple Fitness+, along with 2TB of iCloud storage.

Price and availability

Apple One individual subscription costs $14.95 per month, Family subscription costs $19.95 per month and Premier costs $29.95 per month. Individual and Family subscriptions are available now but Premier will come later this year.

iPad 8th Generation

iPad 8th generation offers the same overall design but gets the Apple A12 Bionic chip for improved performance. According to Apple, the new entry-level iPad offers a 40% GPU boost over the last-generation model and is up to 3 times faster than the top-selling Android tablet. The new iPad supports the Smart Keyboard and First Generation Apple Pencil. Unfortunately, it only supports the first-generation Pencil.

Pricing and availability

The new 8th generation iPad is priced at $329, for education customers it will be available at $299. The device is available to order, with full availability on the 18th of September.

iPad Air 4th generation

iPad Air is getting an Edge to Edge display like the iPad Pro. It features a 10.9” Liquid Retina Display and brand new 5nm A14 Bionic chipset - one that Apple claims increases graphics performance by 30%.

It has a single 12MP rear camera and 7MP front sensor. Touch-ID is integrated inside the power button rather than the Home button and there’s no Face-ID. iPad Air also has a USB-C connector which helps in high speed data transfer and ensures that it will work with more third-party accessories. iPad Air also supports the fan favorite magic keyboard and second-generation Apple Pencil.

Pricing and availability

The iPad Air starts at $599 and will be available in October in five vibrant colors including Space Gray, silver, Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue.

Conclusion

Apples latest offerings pushes them further into the subscription business model. The new Apple Watches and iPads will support the company as they continue to push for incredible hardware that joins with their software for further development of a 2 trillion dollar ecosystem.
